Web Sites for Kids

.
Cheers for cooler weather!

If you ever want to find kid-safe places on the internet, try the website "Surfing the Net with Kids" by Barbara Feldman. (To see the website, click on the title of this article.)

Feldman is a former teacher who now publishes a weekly online newsletter for kids and teachers (and parents). Each week features a theme, such as Christopher Columbus or easy science experiments. She evaluates and lists about six to ten sites on each topic. This week the topic is Halloween recipes. Her comments are brief, informative and helpful. Check out the list of previous topics, also, and the connections to fun games. To get to

Currently at the Library we have a display of spooky and scary books. Check out Georgie, a picture book by Robert Bright, about a friendly little ghost who helps remind a family to go to bed. Teens and adults may enjoy a classic horror tale such as Frankenstein by Mary Shelley or Doctor Faustus by Marlowe (a play about a man who sells his soul to gain fame and wealth). Of course we have lots of mystery and detective fiction to keep you awake at night.

See you at the library!
