April is for Libraries!
Forget that snowstorm a few weeks ago! Warm weather has brought a lot of new visitors to the library. Also, every year one week in April is designated LIBRARY WEEK -- so if you haven't gotten a library card, drop by soon. Don't forget -- we have extra copies for sale and paperbacks for exchange.
We have two special collections. One is books by or about Native Americans, and another is books about Oklahoma. These include:
* Gerald McDermott's picture book The Raven ;
* Paul Goble's tale, The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses ;
* Walking the Trail by Jerry Ellis, about retracing the Cherokee Trail of Tears;
* Keepers of the Earth by Michael C. and Joseph Bruchac, with nature legends and activities for kids;
* Geronimo by Angie Debo, noted Oklahoma historian, about the famous Apache war leader; and
* Our Governor's Mansions, compiled by former first lady Cathy Keating;
* Bootlegger's Boy, an autobiography by former OU football coach Barry Switzer;
* Reba, My Story, by Oklahoma's queen of country music, Reba McEntire; and
the new book by David Boren, former governor and senator, now President of OU.
